Welcome to Barry Waterfront Residents Association
The voice of the local community
Established in 2024 by four residents, the Association is designed to be the voice of our community and is committed to helping to foster a strong community who champion and love where they live.
A word from our MP Kanishka
Meet your committee
Charlotte Baillie Chair
-
Charlotte moved to the Waterfront with her 3 children in 2021. It was her dream to live near the sea and be part of a community who looked out for each other and provided a safe space for her children to grow up. Charlotte decided to set up the Association again to ensure that residents voices were heard and to try to resolve some of the issues being experienced everyday by residents.
Alun Williams Co-Chair
-
Alun moved to the Waterfront in 2021 from Bridgend. Alun decided to join the committee to help set up the Association so that 'together we can better deal with the issues that confront us on a daily basis and also for us to come together as a community that helps each other
Lesley Novis Secretary
-
In 2021, Lesley and her husband moved from Kent to the Waterfront. Born and bred in West Wales, her husband wanted to come home and the decided-on Barry. They absolutely love living in Barry and this passion for making it their home is one of the main reasons Lesley decided to become involved in the Residents Association as ‘community is everything’. Lesley believes that the Association will give residents a collective voice and enjoy events in which we all can share.
Amy Owens Treasurer
-
Amy moved to the Waterfront in January 2023 and although she loved it straight away, she could see there were issues. When the call came for volunteers to help set up the Association again, she knew that her skills in finance and fundraising would go to good use. Amy is an avid nature lover and would love to see the estate thriving for people and wildlife with a strong community spirit.

Where does your membership fee go
Membership is available to all the Waterfront residents. There is a very small annual fee of £10 per household. The fees will be used to cover the operational costs of running the Association. This includes accountancy fees, public liability insurance, the cost of hosting and managing the website, venue hire, print or design costs etc.
But we know for some residents this money is needed for life’s essentials. So, in the spirit of community and inclusivity, if you can’t afford the fee, please don’t worry you can still become a member. For other residents who can afford the fee and would also like to ‘pay it forward,’ we’re offering you the chance to pay the fee anonymously for another resident.
